Information about Llanelli
Llanelli is a coastal town in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, with a population of around 50,000. Once known as the “Tinplate Capital of the World,” Llanelli has a strong industrial heritage, but today it is better known for its culture, sport, and scenic location on the Loughor estuary.
The town is home to the Scarlets rugby team and has a proud rugby tradition that runs through the community. Llanelli is also a gateway to the Carmarthenshire coast, with the award-winning Millennium Coastal Park offering 22 kilometres of cycle paths, beaches, and nature reserves along the seafront.
Llanelli sits just 10 miles west of Swansea and within easy reach of the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons National Park, making it an excellent base for exploring both the coast and the countryside of South Wales.
